Hello.

Yesterday I installed new update (MPC 3) for my MPC ONE.
After only a few minutes of playing with it I realized there is no time signature change option...
I wanted to copy and duplicate half of a bar in arranger view and I cannot see the option to do that in this mode. Neither via selecting it with loop range nor via edit > copy bars function.
Loop range can be set only to full bars, not beats and 'copy bars' function does only bars as well...
So I thought, that I will change time signature of a bar of 4/4, to two bars of 2/4 and this way I will be able to select one 2/4 bar with loop range and duplicate it.
But I could not find the option to set time signature anywhere...
Am I blind? Or does it mean that according to AKAI politics, now music have to be in 4/4? And all time signatures other than 4/4 will be impossible to set on MPC 3?
Does anybody know what happened to time signature set option?

Peace.

EXACTLY.

It’s an unfinished product.

Some people need to be reminded of this fact, as some, not all, aggressively ignore it.

I think Akai could have used to look at how most all companies roll out betas, even public ones. The most obvious WTF moment is zero Release Notes. No explanation of why a feature might be missing, if it's coming back or if it's part of a redesign.

The same thing happened pre release with track/pad mutes, they are not currently tied to the Sequence you muted tracks etc. in, they just mute that track or pad etc. on all Sequences. It got to the point finally where Akai mentioned that the mute feature would be restored to what it's like in MPC 2. No one knows whether this will be the case with time signatures? Currently with the Akai Force you can set the bar length of a Clip to pretty much anything, so in a sense there are alternate time signatures in the Force. Hopefully something like that or even a more elegant solution is implemented in the MPC. In the mean time please bother them about it, it's also very possible that they jettison the feature altogether.

Thanks. I'm aware of that and don't need any reminder. But I think AKAI needs some reminder of what music consists of...
Cause they are releasing a software, which is meant to be for music making, right? And one of the crucial aspects of music is... time signature. I can understand that "unfinished product" would have some bugs or workflow issues. But not implementing time signature setup possibility even in beta release, makes me think, that this would not be addressed in the future. In MPC 2 this was kind of difficult as well to change time sig. as far as I remember. You had to decide before starting the project, which time sig. it will be. And if for some reason you needed to change it in the middle of the project, it was a hassle. Even metronome (still) has no option to turn off the accent on One... which can be annoying when making 5/4 beat or whatever else. And this leads me to conclusion, that some people need to be reminded of the fact that music is not only 4/4...
Anyway, I hope the "problem" will be addressed in full release. Otherwise? Big shame for AKAI :(

Of the betas I've participated in this is actually a pretty solid one -- I worked in the studio for 10 hours nonstop with MPC3 and I didn't get one crash, didn't hit one area of reduced functionality that had limited my options (granted, I sequence the MPC externally and only track to arrangement later, so I'm not affected by internal time sig issues).

Ran into a few UI/UX bugs (inc. touchscreen navigating in the sample edit mode seemed a bit weird at times) that I made a log of to report, but overall for a first public beta release I'm seriously impressed. I'd take this to a live show.

I thought the MPC was unhappy and drifting when not the MIDI master ? You don't encounter any such issue ?

Known issue for decades..

I sequence the MPC from an external clock and the MPC sends out MIDI clock and CV (analogue) clock to other modular hardware -- any variance is either too small to notice or within the acceptable margins for 'analogue groove' feel. Done a bunch of concerts like this and it's been rock solid.

I'm not experiencing any noticeable drift, some small latency, but it's consistent, and expected as I'm running through both a Scarlett and a UMC, and that's on a drum machine syncing off the MPC

I just ran a test and clearly the systems is not under any load with this one.

Scarlett is my PCs sound card
UMC is my MPC sound card
I have a ADA 8200 connceted via adat to the UMC

Xo in Cakewalk running a tight 4/4 hat, playing out of the Scarlett
Drumsynth in the MPC running a tight 4/4 hat, synced to Cakewalk via mid cable, with the UMC sending audio to the Scarlett
LXR02 Drum machine running a tight 4/4 hat synced to the MPC via midi cable, audio into the MPC by way of the ADA8200 into UMC, into the Scarlett

No drifting between the systems, but a slight flam on the drum machine, but it's not moving.

I forumulated a rant, but wasnt content with it. 5/4 isnt a real measurement of anything its technically 5/8ths with double long notes played double time to equal 4 beats. SAE fraction based wrench sizing should be your guide, not written music.
