Hey everybody, I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what I may be doing wrong.

I've got an X, live 1 and a Force.

I installed an SSD in the force (bought from MPC stuff) and it worked from the getgo. When I downloaded all the plugins I wanted (Fabric, hype, etc) I put them on the SSD and have never had a problem.

Fast forward to now, I put an SSD in my X the other day and spent some time troubleshooting why it wasn't appearing in "places" in the MPC browser. After reading around, I formatted the drive FAT32, put it back in the unit and now it functions. This drive was the Samsung 1TB that I saw a lot of people recommend.

I find it a little weird that there is an 'eject' icon next to my new drive on the X. There isn't one on the Force's drive. I don't want to accidentally eject the thing and have to open up the machine to reconnect it. Also I'm getting the "missing plugins, would you like to continue searching for them?" upon starting a session although everything seems to be there and working. A couple of times it refused to save but that might have been a file-type issue. Should I have formatted the drive in the machine a second time after formatting with a computer? I'd like to know if you guys think that'll help before I begin the process of backing up all my sessions to an SD card.

Another thing: I chose to keep my LIVE on 2.15 while I move my old projects to the new OS in bits and pieces. I never put a drive inside the LIVE because I learned too late not to fill up the Internal. So I've had my Fabric plugin on an SD card, and when the card is in the machine, sometimes its there, sometimes it's not, and sometime I have to reactivate it from the activation menu. I don't have WiFi so I go somewhere else to reactivate, and it's a crap shoot whether it will still pop up when I get home. Do I need WiFi to use purchased plugins if I have them on an SD card? Thanks for reading.

Sorry is this an MPC 3 or MPC 2 issue on your MPC X? It sounds like you have MPC3 on your MPC X, remember it's a beta/preview software, I would not be transferring all your work just yet. There's also known issues regarding file formats, saving etc.

Ejecting just means 'software eject', the SSD will re-appear when you next boot up your MPC.

Thanks for replying. I have had the problem with the missing plug ins on the sd card all through MPC2, and now with the installed drive on the X, I am getting the same messages on MPC3, although the plugins are working. Each time I fire up the X, first thing that pops up even before the blank (trap kit) program is this message:

“2 of your plugin content folders could not be found, please check that your storage media is attached”

Sometimes it says 2 are missing and sometimes 3.

In preferences, the new ssd drive is listed as the content holder, and the checklist of my activations looks normal. And like I said everything is there and works. I’m getting a lot of temporary freezing though when using fabric and air delay pro, but it’s only the screen that freezes; the music still plays and buttons work.

swapping out drives and formats -- we dont know what your file system looks like on your machines, so its difficult to really give you any ideas.
its good practice to put your user content on an sd card or user installed drive. this should help you with losing files and perhaps yoru out of memory issues.
