Has anyone had this issue and know how to resolve it/work around?

When I export my stems (song mode, convert to sequence, explode drum tracks, audio mixdown (explode tracks), the kick drum track quite often doesn't export properly, it is just a track full of quiet click noises where the sample is triggered, not the kick drum sample.

I have also tried bouncing the KD track to sample and audio and the same issue arises.

I found an article saying it's an internal storage issue and you need to free up space. I deleted everything I could from the internal storage drive (without removing any demo or stock info), which now means my internal storage is about 60% full which should be enough space. This hasn't fixed it.

I have emailed Akai support but they're taking ages to get back to me and I need to get a project finished asap.

Hoping someone can help with a fix or work around??

look for an additional track that contains kick - seen that behaviour right after they introduced stems (2.x.x). Basically it was creating two tracks: one with transients only and the other one with drums. For some reason the one with clicks was assigned as drum track while the other „proper” one resided in memory not assigned to anything - you could easily find it via sample edit or anywhere that let you preview all the samples in the project or just save the project and look for additional sample stem :hmmm:

It's 2.15.1 (I'm not near my MPC now but I updated a couple of days ago, 99% sure it's 2.15.1), but it was happening before I updated also.

No mute groups used on the project at all.

When the track exports, there are clicks where the KD's would be (e.g. where there are drum mutes, there are no clicks).

This happens on most of my projects but not all.

Thanks

Thanks, I'll check for this but I don't think that's the case. I went mad for an hour trying to bounce the KD track to sample and also audio, so looked through all my samples on the project and only clicking tracks were showing.

I haven't exported anything from my MPC (Live I) for a long time, but I do recall having this exact issue a long time back - 5 years back (definitely pre-covid), so it's been something that the machines are capable of doing for a long time. I never knew what caused it, and it seemed pretty random. I think I started to hook it up to a DAW via software as a workaround eventually.

Thanks for your reply. When you say hook it up to a DAW via software, do you mean controller mode with MPC software, or did you use a third party software to connect to another DAW (other than MPC)?

Update: I've found what was causing the issue.

When I exploded the drum tracks, I expected the original drum track to mute, but it didn't. I went into the drum track, removed the mute automation and then muted the track before exporting all tracks via audio mix down.

I now have my proper kick drum tracks.
