Styleflip skins -Anyone tried these?

What's your experience?

Do I need to be a brain surgeon or Rainman in order to get them attached correctly with an aesthetically acceptable result?

Will they still reattach the fourth or fifth try and stay on?

I need to get one for my launch Live mk1.

The rubber coating is starting to break down , it feels wet to the touch now . Just waiting to see if they have Black Friday promotions.

I'm also curious how difficult it is to get on correctly. Looking to make my key 37 black. Hope they will have a sale for Black Friday also.

I don't know about the Key 37 but it was easy on the Live 1. The cutouts are a tiny bit off in some spots but whatever, it worked for the most part. I don't know about reapplying it 4 or 5 times though, mine went on 1st shot as is.

Cool. Yeah I would absolutely be happy with a result like that. Rad color choice for the logo/text!

live 1 is the ultimate dust magnet; I will eventually grab a skin from mpc stuff

I don't know about other models but at least for the Key 37 there are only 3 skin colors offered by MPC Stuff. Styleflip let you chose any color for both text and background including photos on your hard drive. Just saying

Hmm I wonder if they've changed things. I bought mine in 2020 I think (Im pretty sure I posted here when I got it) and I had a whole pallet to choose from. When I was making mine, I had the same type of color selection available you would see in like Photoshop or a paint program. I almost got it in an obnoxious orange color since at the time it was on my desk next to my Microwave XT haha.

They actually make one for the Microwave XT I thought about getting but I'm scared to put this on the nextel paint. I ever need to take it off, I'd imagine its going to peel that shit right off and its already ugly enough after 25 years of abuse and dirt and dust. I still wonder what the MPC's rubbery surface underneath is like now.

Yes I've tried them several Times. Its all about how you design it, that will determine if it looks good. Be careful sticking it on. It can get tricky if you do it too fast...Wrinkles and Sh*t

Not worried about that as I'll just go with a light grey background color and keep everything else as it is originally.

This is what worries me. I have a hard time imagining being able to get it attached straight enough from the beginning for everything to stay aligned all the way through without wrinkles and bubbles unless it's either very elastic or so stiff that it can get jiggled in place despite the adhesive. I'm not the obsessed type but major errors that are visible from afar would annoy me.

What model are you putting it on?? The Live was fairly easy, I didn't even take it apart or anything. The skin for the Live, starts at the bottom front and only goes up to the top edge of the face, it doesn't wrap around the sides or the back. I just lined up one edge and very careful started laying it down and pressing it as I went. I only had to lift it off once to fix a wrinkle but it was easy.

OH and if it's a Live, make sure you take off that sticker in between the transport buttons and pads too. Like an idiot I completely forgot it and was wondering for awhile what this big square 'bump' was under the skin. I started from the bottom and went up, so I wasn't about to peel the whole thing off just to get to that spot and left it heh.

The Key 37. Looks like kind of a headache. Both as it is and the job of putting on the skin without f'ing up

Yeah seems like it would be fairly easy with the Live. Mine still has the coating more or less intact and it's not turned sticky or anything yet. I'm actually a fan of it as I like the soft matte finish and so will just keep on dusting it often and hope for the best.
