MPC3 is cool, what is the plan for the software side?

Dropping programs and putting them into tracks is a huge change. How is the MPC software going to work. And why is only the standalone being tested.

Hmm what if programs return after the current MPC3 is beta tested with the Force style architecture?

Perhaps Akai does not know itself how MPC3 will end up. The beta test gathers besides bug reports also much feedback on the features themselves.

If this is the case then it is simply cheaper to delay any work on the PC software after finishing the MPC OS.

First you have to code it on lower cpus as standalones, otherwise there might be compability issues, they are not as powerful as desktops

I suspect they may drop the software side alrogether.

Been curious about this as well. I typically arrange and finish projects in Reaper on my PC using the software version to record each track separately. Pretty simple, I already have a Reaper template with 32 tracks ready to go. The only difficult part is assigning each track to their assigned outputs in the software and voila.

With the MPC One and 3.0 beta, I will have record each track individually from the Stereo Outs, lining them up in the DAW and working from there... A tedious process I've used early on before really getting into the software side. Not ideal.

Also curious how long Akai is going to take to finish the 3.0 standalone version. Really enjoying the workflow and new features, but I'd like it to be a bit less buggy.

You can export stems in reaper from your standalone MPC 3.0, you always could even with 2.xx

I find the desktop software (on Mac) unintuitive and clunky. I often export the stems and the midi and try to recreate the beat in Ableton or Logic.

If Akai just made a plug-in that loaded XPM drum or keygroups and we could load multiples of those in any DAW, I’d be happy.

Another issue is the paid plugins. Standalone Fabric plug-in user presets crash the DAW when I use the VST. If they could fix that things would be great.

Curious, does the "Save All Tracks" option only save the current sequence? Because that's what I'm getting, which is cool, but not exactly the most efficient way to get stems for the an entire project with lots of sequences. Or perhaps this aspect of the software is still being worked out.

"Audio Mixdown - Seperate tracks" seems to behave similarly and Song Mode is completely broken for me. Guess I'm left waiting for the official release of 3.0.

No it's not curious , MPC, even on 3.0 is a product working with sequences. If you wanna export your song, you have to convert a song to a big sequence. Or work with only one big seq in arranger mode (don't forget it's also arranger per sequence) it's clunky but it's like this since forever

I've been working with song mode in MPC3. I noticed nothing broken. At least nothing that wasn't odd in MPC2 as well

I think it's a bug with this installation. Before the last version of beta I was having quirky stuff seemingly exclusive to my unit. Not sure. I might try again to re-install 3.4, but it's the only thing that's not working and i don't really use it so it's not a deal breaker.

I ended up copying each sequence to one long one and successfully exporting that using "export all tracks", so I figured out a work around. Somewhat inelegant, but it works. Wouldn't be too difficult for Akai to add an option of "all sequences" to the dialogue.

Regardless, hope the official version isn't far off.

I don't think the software side is coming for quite some time. The reason is simple, right now it's AU, VST2, and as a standalone DAW. AU and VST2 in any DAW would result in the same "error message" I get when I load any sequence I wrote in MPC2 in a time signature other than 4/4, how does it react when the host is controlling time signatures? In other words if you host it in a DAW, it will have issues. Right now MPC3 doesn't recognize anything but 4/4. Even Maschine can change to other time signatures, it just can't write more than one in it's sequencer.

As of today, Akai on Instagram advised Mpc 3.0 major update will drop later spring, which will include flexible time signatures , wireless expansion midi recording and playback, which will address external gear challenges and additional new features.
They also mentioned Mpc 3.0 Software for desktop will go out as beta real soon, and a new update for force users is coming next month, along with MPC 3.4.2 update for standalone Mpc devices, comes out this month in February.

I'm curiuos if they overhaul the UI of the software version. In theory everything should be better accessible but I never got to terms with the menu and button system.
