Recording audio from mic/adding lyrics

So I normally only do instrumental beats, but I'd like to start rapping on my tracks. The way I normally record my songs is I have a 4 or 8 bar loop with all my elements, and I use my Tascam Model 12 to mute or fade the different elements as I record each portion of the song in one long take.

My question is, what would be the best way to add 16 bar verse (or longer) to a song made in this way? Would just using an audio track work? I've never done it so I'm clueless. TIA for replies.

4 or 8 bar loop, double the length (sequence pencil icon) several times to cover the whole song length.

Explode to tracks (each inst gets it’s own track).

You can overdub and record your track mute performance.

Add vocals using an audio track, this will end up as a sample and you can later put the sample in a drum program if audio tracks aren’t giving you enough options. You could line up drum program midi event for the vocal with the audio track, just listen, use your ears, and then do away with the audio track if you want.

I use to do vocals on 2kxl in a drum program this way, just nudge the vocal sample around till it sounds right.
