Hi all!

To have fast live access to as many instruments as possible on my MPC KEY 37 I load them (KEYGROUPS) to different tracks, set all to MERGE in the MIX menu and MUTE nearly all of them in the TRACK MUTE menu.

So it's possible to switch to another instrument "on the fly" with muting and unmuting (per pads) - and even layer them (ie piano and strings).

Unfortunately I got polyphony problems when playing an instrument. That might be obvious because of "merging" (and playing so many instruments simultaneously - even if muted). So the polyphony limit ("maximal number of voices") might be reached very soon. Actually I couldn't find the polyphony limit for my MPC key 37 - it might be between 32 and 64.

Is there another solution that offers fast instrument changing and layering. To change the tracks in main menu (with speed dial) is slow - and doesn't offer layering.

Thanks for any help in advance.
Regards

I would like to add to my original post, that there is a similar (and 'official') way to do this by using the KEY RANGES menu.
This doesn't seem so comfortable to me (muting pads with names are not visible) and the polyphony problem seems to be the same (when 'arming' many tracks).
