MPC Key 61 - 2 Inputs at the same time Phantom Power

Hey there!

What happens if i want to record a guitar on Input 1 and a Microphone (Condenser) at Input 2? There is only one 48V switch, so can i damage my guitar setup or my mic? How can i establish this setup?

You can get a small multi channel mixer, that mixer outputs go to mpc.

You can record the guitar part first. Later in 3.4x you can disk stream that guitar part and use the Key61 inputs for vocals.

I have a Key61 and these would be the options I’d consider/explore.

I also have a 16 channel mixer capable of phantom power so this situation would never be a problem for me. You should look into the mixer option if you wanna do both recordings at the same time.

From page 35 in the manual:

Inputs 1/2 (XLR or 1/4” / 6.35 mm): Use standard XLR or TRS cables to connect these inputs to audio sources
(microphone, mixer, synthesizer, etc.). When using a 1/4" cable, the Mic preamp is removed from the circuit, and
the Line/Inst switch can be used to set the impedance.

In other words - you can connect your guitar directly to the 1/4” input and nothing bad will happen. There’s no 48v connected there.
