Sold my live 2, just when the new plugins were coming out (Jura, odyssey etc), and the 'set list' addition, so been away since 2 point Something and haven't really paid much attention to the new firmware updates.

With the advent of 3.0, is there now a way to play seamless full sets, with no gaps between tracks?

Or is it still a case of a mega project, with lots of tracks?

If the latter, is there an easy way to merge projects, to create the live set?

Finally, if this is still not viable within the hardware, would this work:

New arranger
Line up tracks (wavs) along the timeline in the order I want them to play
Hit play and it plays like a recorded set (obvs having tracks at the same bpm)

Thanks in advance all.

There is no way to merge multiple projects, even in MPC3. However, with the addition of disk streaming, it’s now possible to play back pre-rendered projects on audio tracks seamlessly, without memory limitations.

I'm not sure about what's happening with v3 now, but I've been doing live sets with the MPC Live running the old 2.7.2 OS.
I have complete 'songs' converted back into single sequences, all part of one project - each song / sequence has it's own program with sounds on each bank.
My live gigs (I work with two separate people in two different duos) work more like a traditional 'band', in that we have a brief pause in between each song. But it's still absolutely possible to go straight from one into another, I did it last weekend after our last song in the set, I just dialled up 'next sequence' so when it had run it's course it went seamlessly into something I'd been messing about with the previous day, as like an outro, both on the same BPM.
I'm new to the Live, & just swapped over from a 1K that I've been using for many years - I used to do solo 'DJ set' style beat sets on the 1K, using a similar method :
I'd have about 18 songs, build with sequences, arranged in song mode, & then converted back to a single sequence. Then I would arrange those sequences in song mode again to build a set. I'd trigger stuff live & use track mutes to drop out bass, drums, or keys / samples. Worked great on the 1K, so I'll likely bring all that stuff across to the MPC Live also at some point soon. Should work much the same way.

Hope that's useful in some capacity! I'm not really familiar with the v3 firmware, as I dialled it back to v2 less than 24 hours after getting it!

This is significantly more convoluted with MPC3 due to unified tracks, so each sequence must have the exact same track structure as the tracks just run continually through all sequences. If you want multiple songs in a single project, the tracks for each song must exist in all songs (e.g song 1: tracks 1-12, Song 2: tracks 13-27, etc)

Damn that's a whole mess I'm glad I avoided!

Some version of the MPC 2 firmware would be a much better option for live sets for sure.

I haven’t checked, but can you export a sequence from an MPC3 project and important it to another project? Wasn’t that was possible in 2.x?

No, sequence load/save is not possible, sequences are not even separate files in the 'projectData' folder (which just holds samples now). All you can do is export individual 'tracks' and rebuild the sequence in a different project.

Thanks for the replies.

I've been checking the vids for 3.0 and the arranger etc, and even without a straightforward way of playing full sets, I'm coming back to it. Seems like a new machine.

Just a shame the pads never stay clean
