Hello community. I used to have an AKAI Force, but then I sold it (see it evolved over time). Now, as far as I know, the Force is out of the game. What I'm looking at is the MPC X SE. I'm thinking of going back to the AKAI because I simply love that sampler, and so many more things are missed.

I have a question. I can't find an answer, and I'm not sure if it seems that way to me or if it's because of the way some YouTube videos are made.

Am I seeing it right, or is the screen on the MPC X SE somehow faster? By that, I mean that I watch videos, and I see when users do the pinch in gesture or when they switch between screens and tabs, everything is somehow very fast and fluid. Like butter smooth. It's hard for me to describe it, but it's like everything is faster, and the refresh rate on the screen is somehow better.

Ok I understand that the screen is bigger, so maybe it's because of that or the way some videos are edited. But when I watch some MPC 2 or 3 videos, it seems like everything is not as fast as on the MPC X SE. NOTE: I am not talking about loading. I understand KEYS 61 and MPC X SE have more RAM etc. I am speaking purely on screen experience, working, switching zooming in - everything seems to fly.

Is it just me? Has anyone tried it and seen it live? I don't remember my Force being this responsive, for lack of a better term...Maybe they just polished it over the years?

I don't know about screen speed for each model, but the Force isn't out of the game last month Akai said a new update is coming. It's currently in private beta that you can sign up for & it should be getting most the missing new MPC features that weren’t already on the Force.

Thanks for your response. I apologize if I made a wrong claim. I was under the impression that Force is on the path of discontinuation. I based this on internet rumors. Anyway, I am interested in MPC X SE and was wondering about the screen performance difference that I may be noticing or maybe I am wrong.

Looking forward to someone who tried or noticed this.

I think the screen on the Force is fast or at not slow to point I notice or to be an issue, nor I have I've heard anyone have this problem on any of the MPCs. This seems like very BS issue that you wouldn't even think about if you had any model, so I wouldn't worry about this & focus what model would be best for your workflow.

I would also suggest you wait for the new Force update to see if you want to stay on that platform before getting any MPC. Even with the MPC3 it's still seems unfinished & like Force-lite with less dedicated buttons & no clip-matrix which make working with the arranger less fun & useful, but that may not matter to you based on your workflow.

both systems work fine. there is no discernable lag on either device. rest assured, both machines are great machines in their own right. you are seeing something that's not there.
