Any way to step through a MIDI note sequence with one pad?

Hope I can convey this idea clearly... wondering if there's any way to play each step in a sequence of MIDI notes/chords with a single pad or external MIDI controller like a drum pad? I.e., if you hit a pad repeatedly, it would play each note/chord in succession.

Closest example I can think of is the "Layer Play > Cycle" feature in a Drum Track, which is limited to 4 samples per pad.

If you are looking for something akin to Roland step recording then the List Edit view kind of do that, but badly. Just press Rec without pressing Play in that mode.

MPC3’s Slice Motion feature lets you do this with as many regions as you like.

Was messing around last night and finally encountered bugs in 3 that were messing up my flow. Or maybe it’s a skill issue lol
