Soft synth patch name editing

I’ve saved a bunch of patches in Jura and mini D into the “user” patches, and I would like to easily change the order of them. Is there a way to do this?

I bought this knowing what I need is a 37 key version of the Arturia Astrolab, and this seemed the closest I could find, but I need to be able to handle patches more like a regular synth, and this could help.

I don't save presets to be used across project, so I never tried this, but could you load those save presets file in the new order you want in a new project & save that that as a template?

If you add a prefix like 000-, 001- to preset names, you can rearrange them in any order you like. (e.g., 001-MyPreset)

You can't rename files directly in the MPC browser, so you'll need to first load the preset, save it with a different name, and then delete the unwanted preset file from the folder corresponding to the instrument under
[Internal drive]/MPC Documents/Plugin Presets/Instruments/.

Boy was that an awful subject I typed in! What I really would like to do is move the soft synth patches around to change the order. That would make it possible to have sort of a set list for gigs. I had thought of duplicating and deleting to sort of get them in the order I need, but doing that for every gig would be super cumbersome. In most synth editor/librarians, etc. you can just drag the presets to the order you want, etc. but there doesn't seem to be any easy way to edit the presets at all after they are made. I'm not sure I'm making sense, as I don't know the correct terminology. Sorry about that, I'm open to education

What I did for gigs was choose a different patch for each of the 8 possible tracks (?) in a program and advance through those during the gig. And I had a program per set, since 8 wasn't enough. I thought that would work, but it was too hard for my brain to remember to change the synth patch and my Bass guitar patch, etc. so I was starting songs with the wrong patch. I'm afraid I've just got the wrong tool, which is disappointing because it's so close. Thanks for responding!

I'm not sure if I fully understand what you're trying to do, but would using the "Favorite" view in the SOUNDS menu (it's the second tab at the bottom left) help you organize your presets?

How do you add a favorite patch? I used the shift favorite buttons and it looks like there are 16 slots. Once I save patches to the favorites, can that be edited at all?

Anyway, if I bring up the Jura instrument and double tap the preset, that brings up sort of a directory of patches, and if I select “user” all my patches come up. Is there a way to edit the order of these patches?

I’ll start from the beginning. I play bass in a band, and I need to play about half our songs on keyboard. I have a HX Stomp set up with a preset for each song we play according to our set list so I just advance through them as we go. The stomp sends a midi program change every time I advance to the next preset, so if I hook that to a synth, it will also advance through that synths presets, so if I order them correctly, the synth patches advance along with the stomp presets so the right synth patches come up for the right songs. The Akai doesn’t really work this way because there is no preset list like other synths, so I’m trying to find a work around. Btw, I send my bass guitar into the L input on the stomp, and the synth into the R input and for each preset (song) I pan L or R so that either the synth or the bass is active.

N/m on the favorites, I figured that out. Very cool! Actually, if a program change message could scroll through that list, it would be ridiculously awesome, but even if it can’t, it could work as a set list basically. I wish the scroll wheel would scroll through them, but really not a biggie. Hmmm.

Basically you that Akai presets to have MIDI PC/MSB/LSB numbers so they can be switched to on command.

How do you figure it out.

It’s easier to edit if they are on an SD card or something you can edit on a computer.

If you are using the Sounds Browser you can add a “category” like Bass-Big Bass , Bass-Another Bass and they will be in a folder in the Sounds Browser (at least in 2.15 that was the case).

Also as mentioned adding numbers before (0000-Bass Synth) can work too and they will be in ascending order.

OK, that makes sense. I normally make new synth patches for each project based on what kinda sound is needed/works at the time. This is where I take time to just focus on sound design phase, but being able to assign a PC# to all the internal presets would make it more pro level.

I name my patches by type & project date like:
Track Name-year/month/day = Bass1-20250416.
