I have been using my key 61 daily for the last couple months on MPC 3 and it had been rock solid until today when it wouldn't boot up during sound check at a sizable music festival. It got to the MPCos loading screen then all the lights would flash a bunch then it would power itself off, I did this a dozen times before I had to give up and use my backup keyboard and laptop. Then after that show I got home and plugged it in and now it is working fine. I rolled back to MPC 2 since it was probably stupid that I took the new software to shows anyway. Has anybody else had this happen or have any idea what caused it? I've played about 50 shows on this board and rehearse with my group twice a week (on top of using it at home) and never experienced anything like this.

Damn that’s bad. Key61, v3.4.3, this hasn't happened to me.

Did you have it plugged into an external soundcard when you powered it off at home before packing up for the show? I've seen this happen to me when I leave the soundcard enabled and power it off, then back on without it. Like the machine gets caught up looking for the wrong alsa device and fails init.

From your description, my first question to you would be: how clean/stable was the power at the festival where you had problems? The MPCs can experience issues with dirty/unstable power and improperly grounded receptacles, etc. If it worked normally before and after that one show that would be the first thing I’d check.
