Now via the new Force 3.5 update which gave many of the MPC features, specifically Sequences & Song mode, but it still have its clips & matrix, will the MPC get the powerful clip-matrix?

I've had a MPC since 2005 & used think the MPC sequencer was great in the beginning years, but as I got better with chopping samples & wanted to make more complex type of beats is what made hate using the MPC. I got the RS7000 which is a clip based sequencer & it helped a lot but it's sampler wasn't as good, but it has a synth.

The Force is the best of both. The layout & dedicated buttons help it to really quick test out ideas via combining clips from all over the project in a way the traditional MPC OS just can't. The clip-matrix on the MPC even as an touch screen only option with limited or designed around the MPC would a major improvement or fun alternate sequencer option for users.

How many would be interested in the MPC having a clip-matrix?

In the past years, plenty of us dreaming about MPC clip matrix.

It was impossible in MPC 2, because of each sequence having different tracks. MPC 3 brought order to that - and the next logical step is of course clip matrix !

On the Force, clips seem to exist outside the usual sequence structure, which doesn't really fit with how the MPC works.

Still, the ability to have multiple arrangement takes per track on the Force is a great feature. I hope something like that gets added to the MPC as well.

By the way, as was the case with Ableton, having separate clip and arrangement views requires switching the track state using buttons like "Back to Track" or "Back to Arrange," which feels unintuitive and makes the workflow a bit clunky.

Can you explain what you mean?
The Force has/had scenes, which were just like a MPC sequence but the clips aren't tied to a scene to always & only play with each other. I been too busy this week to mess with 3.5 & see how the MPC sequence & song works on the Force. But I know from the videos that it the extra sequences will save me alot of time from the workaround I had to do being limited to only 1 Arranger window for the whole project.

I know from your past post that you're very knowledgeable on the MPC, but out of curiosity have you used the Force?

Imagine a mpc with full clip and launchpad support. Now that would have been a banger.
Definitely possible, but I guess this is more of a business decision now.

Both operating systems seems to be the same thing with features turned on or off. Older beta versions of OS3 were very heavy on Force specific labels. So I guess some enthusiasts will take care of enabling these features on the mpc.

Budget only goes as far as the MPC One I already have.

There are absolutely better options than a MPC One - especially when those options include a roomful of gear, but the value for money of a MPC One is unbeatable. To me, keeping the hobby cheap & cheerful takes precedence over other considerations.

Ok, I disclose that I also have another major piece: a RC-505 mk2 - awesome as an audio sketchbook... And clip matrix on the MPC would be nice to play alongside it.

I'm interested to see how far Akai will merge the 2 platforms & how MPC users feel about using the more flexible clip-matrix?

No matter how good they will feel about this, they will tell you it's shit and unintuitive. Nostalgia and "iconic product name" that reeled peoples in is the only reason MPCs had so many updates over the years leaving Force behind. Force's workflow had more sense over mpcs since day 1, moreover, if you think about it, you could "emulate" mpc workflow on force but not the other way around. MPC as a device became pop culture at this point.

 Man, you took this comment straight from my mind. I made a video on my old YT channel on how you can emulate the MPC workflow via the Force:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EqgHG1 ... qPVcLtqJNZ
& how to emulate Ableton Arranger/Session view workflow. This needs to be updated since I've improved on it so much since I made this, but it still gives you the overall idea of the method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ankzrt0 ... 3BPMndoUVv

I doubt mpc will ever get the force matrix. There's no way to fully utilize it. There are no arm keys or function key row beside or under the pads. How are people supposed to use it with half the buttons missing?

Considering that in v3 they removed its original "clips" functionality without any explanation, it would seem logical that there was a reason to do so? It's likely on the map somewhere.

I hope they dont implement it in that manner.

Tap to record on clips and the addition of midi clips + plugin selection for the clips would have sufficed. We dont need force-style clip launching it has no place on the mpc without all the input buttons to switch modes on the clip matrix.

It works well in Roland Zenbeats on an Android phone-sized tablet, whose size and tactile experience are worse than an MPC.
