Record over a beat in MPC X

Hello,

I have the MPC X and when I create a beat I would like to scratch on top of the beat that I created and record it. I have seen a guy on YouTube do it but it doesn’t explain how he does it or I don’t understand.

You can do this a number of ways, per segment on an "audio track" or over the full song. the second way takes more work.

For the first method, just open a new track as an audio track and go to the mixer and click the audio cue to merge. Now each segment you make you can scratch your patterns into on that audio lane provided you arm and record it.

Second method, finish your full song basically have the formatting done at least then render it. open a new project and import your rendered song, then open an audio track and load the song into the audio track. Open a second audio track and again, go to the mixer set the cue to merge, arm the second track and lay down your entire routine over the song if you're that sharp.

I was able to record it as a sample while the beat was playing. Not sure that is what you meant. When I create a new track in the sequence it will not record any sound from the turntable. I can hear it but it won’t record.

When using audio tracks, always use the Rec button, not Over Dub.
