How long will Live 2 get additional firmware updates?

Considering that the MPC Live 3 is 64-bit architecture and Live 1 and 2 are 32-bit. They won't share the firmware, correct? So the firmwares needs to be built separately.

How long do you think Akai will keep building firmware for the Live 2? Or do you think that the 3.5 for Live 2 is the last one? With a few potential bug fix updates before sunsetting it?

Lolz 3.5 is still a mess, they're not going to stop all the V3 updates with so many units still using it. Maybe V4.x will be for the next gens.

And to clarify, I mean the MPCX and MPCOne(+), Key37 & Key61 are all using rhe same v3.5 too, it'd be insane not to sort those out and rely on just 1 "next gen" unit.

Yeah, that was what I meant with a few additional bug fixes. You do not think Live 1 and 2, Keys and One(+) are going to be considered feature complete apart for bug fixes?

I was really hoping that the firmwares would keep holding hands, to for example 4.0 like you say. For example until they have fixed the midi bugs, added true program changes per track per sequence (also for changing presets in internal plugins removing a lot of the maximum allowed plugin limitations).

But now I'm not so sure anymore. So asking about other users speculative views on this

prolly a wrap for 2.x updates but certain plugins we may still continue to get as per the latest tape plugin

when the X2 drops I might just reset my X to the last v2 anyway. Feel like v2 fits the OG X better than v3 since it was designed with v2 in mind

Akai wants to keep selling plugins, so they will more than likely keep supporting the older hardware. There are enough units out in the wild to make it worth the effort.

What I hope for more than new plugins is that when they finally rotate the current gen out they will remove the need for activation of the plugins that we already own. Or at least let us have offline activation. I would hate it if my X would have a good bunch of features removed

Technically the updates have ended for all of our current MPC units at version 2.15. The 3.XX stuff is beta software not release. The last official release for our devices was 2.15.2 i believe.
