"A New Take On A Cult Classic

Iona is a faithful recreation of your favorite ‘80s monosynth. Authentic analog tones made for modern production workflows.

From groundbreaking tech innovations in the early days of electronic music to futuristic sounds that define emerging genres, analog synthesizers have done it all. That’s why so many artists and producers still crave the sound of vintage monosynths like the Model D, MS-20, and SH-101 today."

SH101 recreation complete with alternate colorways. Probably gonna wait to see how low the price goes near Christmas myself.

The most interesting thing about this one for me is the included step sequencer. Otherwise from a sonic perspective it's pretty hard to beat the Jura for any substrative synth needs.

Yes, on first glance, IONA looks like yet another mono synth (yawn) - and was never much of a fan of the SH101 - only really a single oscillator - quite limited. Quite like the filter sound on it and step thing looks quite cool

I'd like to see a better polysynth than the Jura (or add at least one oscillator to the Jura to make it more like a Jupiter/JX8)

I'll probably buy it though.... but that's just the GAS... (or PAS - plugin acquisition syndrome!)

Not worth it for 59 quid though - I guess they'll drop it to ~35 at some point. For 100 quid can probably pick up a used behringer sh101 real analog keboard.. (which I did have for a while, but sold it as didn't really make much use of it)

I think its time for AIR to make REAL Instrument Plug Ins....Like a A Brass Section, Wood Section....Or a Whole Orchestra Set of Plug ins.... Kinda like the Edirol Orchestral from back in the Day.

Me like. Cannot have enough plugins that have sequencers built in. And a 101 clone with a sequencer is another bonus. They should release it as an insert like the Jura Chorus.
Imho they should also bring the TB303 (and maybe TR808 and TR909 at some distant point in the future). Those would be a dream come true. Especially the 303. They could just partner with D16 to bring their clones of those machines to the MPC. Especially the Phoscyon is the best 303 clone ever imho from a versatility standpoint.

But apart from that the new pads scream MPE compatibility for at least Hype and Fabric XL
