Hi All,
I’ve just bagged the Studio Strings and the Keys collection from the Akai/inMusic site.
On my MPCX running 2.15.1, in the plug in list was the strings, Stage piano, Stage EP, and Organ. I bought the Organ previously and thought I’d tried the others as trials before so was expecting to be able to just press ‘Activate’ to get them to work. The Strings and Piano were ok, the Organ already was but the EP started downloading as a 19 day trial as if I’d never used it. Then it failed with Code 200. I put in the license code attached to the Keys purchase but the response was “serial provided cannot be registered by this product.” Activation - Error 403.
If anyone has any suggestions I’d appreciate it, although the stock ‘Electric’ EP is good enough for me.
On another subject, I notice there a thread about Time Signatures. I updated to MPC3.xx a few months ago, and immediately went back purely due to the lack of 4/4 alternatives. I also use my MPC as the most expensive metronome ever bought. I also use it to programme and listen to complicated pieces of music that I’m learning either on the piano, guitar or bass. It’s unbelievable in 2025 that a sequencer can’t do anything except 4/4. Even my ancient Yam QY70 and Roland MC50 can do it. :Sigh:
Cheers,
Michael.

MPC 3.6 now supports all time sigs, officially one per project but if you need to vary time sig use 1/8 or 1/4 meters and just use 1 bar for each beat.

Your other problem sounds like potentially a temporary glitch, or a support ticket to Akai.

Thanks for that Tutor. :-D
I’ve logged a ticket with Akai also. It’s not the end of the world, I’d have gladly bought just the Piano for £49, which I suppose as of now I have!
Cheers,
M.

Update:
Had a reply from inMusic and the Stage EP is now working. Some jiggery-pokery with the licence code and re-downloading sorted it. I could’ve sworn I’d had the trial but obviously not.
Two working day turn around from inMusic, the first time I needed to use their support and I’m impressed, although I know some are less so…

I just bought the MPC Instruments bundle but already had Studio Strings from a purchase last year, I thought I read somewhere that Akai occasionally lets you substitute a plugin you already bought in a bundle for something you don't have yet, does anyone know if they still do this?

I'm pretty sure they don't do no shiz like that. I bought the OPx4, Fabric, etc when they were on sale when I had a Live 2. When I sold the Live and got the Key 61, I got no offers from Akai because I'd already owned them. I know that's not your exact scenario, but imagine if they did do what you mentioned. People in my situation would cry foul. It wouldn't be smart business wise to allow something like that. You're asking for headaches for your customer service reps lol

I don't think they do either. That's some wishful thinking.
