Hey folks,
Long time MPC user here. Started with an MPC Studio in 2012, decided it was bollocks, bought an MPC1000 with JJOS2XL - made many hundreds and hundreds of beats. Preordered the MPC Live - submitted bugs and watched it mature into a decent platform.

Recently my Live 1 kicked the bucket and started glitching out during live performances so it was time to upgrade. I use Keygroups a lot so sprung for the Keys 37

All I can say is, Akai/Inmusic, you have completely ruined the MPC experience and lost me as a customer forever. Your software reeks of non-musicians building slop that no one asked for, while axing crucial workflows that have been the defining feature of the platform for decades.

You have alienated your key userbase and I will no longer be purchasing anything you create. MPC2 was stable, used the classic workflow, and familiar to any MPC user. In fact, it was the absolute best tool for live improvisation available anywhere (except maybe a push.......)

Loading programs, running multiple tracks through those programs was THE KEY workflow for the MPC experience. Your decision to remove this feature and workflow has rendered your device a literal paperweight to me and many of your longtime users. Also who decided what buttons to expose on the Key 37? A blind dog? You guys are idiots. For years I wanted to work for Akai designing MPC software - I can now confirm that I want nothing of the sort, because you are operating like a ship of fools, unmusical nerds who don't know flow state if it punched your mom in the face.

BOO Akai. All you noobs talking about arranger mode should go back to fruity loops. Shit is absolutely terrible. I bought another 1000 with JJOS because at least you guys can't **** that up.

I want my money back. I supported you for years.

Is using one "program track" and as many MIDI tracks as you want to "send to" that "program track" substantially different ?

easily accomplished by Duplicating Track with the same Program.

Face It Bruh....Akai is NOT for you my man. Time to try Native Instruments or some Teenage Engineering Products. Hopefully there's another Standalone Drum Machine Sampler that's as Powerful as the Current MPC line. For every ONE Customer Akai Loses, they Gain 20 More Newcomers. Its all about Dollars and Sense lol

Good Luck My Man

I don’t like 3 either. It’s why I stick to 2.X.
OG Live in the home studio
Studio Mk2 on the road

Beat making experience never better

Yes, that's like 10 times more manual action than a single click up or down on the scroll wheel.

I'm an audio software engineer, I am building something better. This is garbage software from a flailing company.

I'm not sure you read my post, I've been using Akai samplers and MPCs for over 15 years. This is about Akai losing their identity and building a shitbox platform crammed with features no one needs while sacrificing the core workflow that made their product better than say... a push 3 in the first place.

Native Instruments is worse.

"Akai" is not "Akai" anymore, it is InMusic brands, and it's total garbage now. Plastic pieces of sh** designed for people graduating from fruity loops.

you know, I'm as "real Akai user" as they come, but making apologies for a music software/hardware integrated developer firm in 2025 that actively peruses this forum is missing a chance to demand something better. It's not 1998 anymore, firmware updates don't come on floppies.

Please do better, Akai. Fix this bullshit. Hire some real developers.

in ur mind when did Akai stop being Akai? cos people said the same thing during the mpc1000/2500 era. People used to diss numark calling them nuakai, saying that the devices was all plastic and not on par with the OG grey era Akai's.

Ultimately the current MPC's are more powerful and have more features, and they still perform the same tasks as those older Akai's.

Some people dont like that the market base has expanded and the features have expanded, but all the same core features are still present, so I dont get that argument.

I read your post several times. Akai hasn't been Akai in about 20YEARS Bruh (2005) when Numark took over  You late to the party lol.

Anywho..."Fruity Loops" aka FLStudio is now one of the Top Tier Software's out. Light Years beyond the Akai Software.

Face it....Akai Isn't for You My Man

I've had a 1000, 2500 and the MPC Live 3 sounds considerably better to my memory. Also had a 4k which did have its own sound but its also a dinosaur. I found the 1000, 2500 to be a little thin (but this was years ago and I prob had no idea of what good sounded like it or how to work it properly lol).

I am almost there Lamp. I converted or recreated everything in MPC 3 now. My 4k been collecting dust on and off for a few years now. I just need to know how good of an offer I can get for it.
My screen is still crispy as well.
