Hi everyone — especially experienced MPC producers!
I’m trying to learn how to recognize what instruments are used in a song just by listening, and how to design similar sounds using Hype or other built-in MPC plug-ins. I also want to get better at understanding the names and categories of different sounds and instruments.

Do you have any recommended video tutorials or tips on where I should start?
Recently I heard a track with a really beautiful bass sound, and it made me want to learn this properly.

Thanks for any advice!

You need to learn and listen to instruments by themselves , playing solo and then playing in context in music . Listen and identify the difference between the fundamental tone, vs the timbre or texture of the instrument. How each instrument also has different articulations . Once you have a deep understanding of these concepts, you can then learn how to replicate, translate this using the synthesis paradigm . A never ending life long masterclass of study . Quite fun really ! Always learning . There is not one tutorial that would cover this .
