MPC Editions are plugins, likely built by inMusic using the raw samples from the original Kontakt plugins (rather than being an MPC 'port' of Kontakt itself). Mostly basic keygroups integrated into what appears to be a reusable plugin interface ( 2 parts, XY pad, etc etc).

There's also MPC expansion conversions of some maschine expansions, but these are not referred to as 'MPC Editions'.

Yes. Each original Kontakt plugin ('Play Series') contains around 130 'instruments' and from what I remember, each instrument was typically built using just 12 or so samples (i,.e. 12 single layer keygroups). So very basic stuff in that respect. I expect an endless lazy flood of these until everyone gets bored with them. TBF, pricing reflects this.

Yes, these things are romplers imo. I have Cloud Supply and Analog Dreams (Purchased prior to XL), all of them share the same GUI and engine (very flexible engine), but the collection of samples is different.

Don't avoid them, the engine is nice, get at least one of them I'd say.
