I think we need to stop calling these 'sales'. Prices have now returned to their normal selling prices after a brief price-boost period.

For example, in 2025, if you look across all inmusic sites and all partner sites (e.g. plugin boutique, audiodeluxe, sweetwater etc) Jura was actually sold for $149 for a total of just 67 days, that's only 18% of the year. In fact there was a period from 5th Feb to 31st July where is was continuously on sale (across all sites)

During other periods, it was available as low as $29, but there were periods where it was $34 with a 15% extra promo code or other multi-buy offers. $34 is the normal price.

I find the whole thing fascinating to observe, not just Akai but all these companies like UAD, softube, plugin alliance etc. Just seems massively unsustainable, yet customers still get excited each time they see these things allegedly on sale, so for the moment the whole farce continues.

Even more baffling is Akai's insistence on issuing additional promo codes halfway through an existing sale event, punishing anyone who bought at the start of the sale. And yet I don't see anyone complaining about it!

I see so many people say stuff like 'never buy plugins full price' which is hugely unfair to the companies that just charge a single affordable price all year round (e.g. Valhalla). Those guys must get sick of people asking them for discounts on what is already a great deal, 365 days a year.

I knew the Akai stuff was often on sale, but not as much as you stated above. I only tend to look at sale times of the year, or when I am waiting for a new plug in to come down in price. These prices are through a 3rd party resellers, Air Music hasn't got a sale on themselves. I wonder how much they make from people not knowing about going to 3rd parties.

I'm not buying anything at the moment. I do fancy Ether, but the Pro Pack will be my next purchase, I can't justify the $99 but that's gone to full price of $199. I guess because it's a firmware addition as well as the plug ins, it's not through Air Music and only wit Akai Pro, so for once it's not going through 3rd parties. I suspect because of that $99 might actually be the best price it ever goes for. For me the Reverb, Clip and CV will make it worthwhile, but it stings because I think Clip and CV should be part of 3.6.

Never got Valhalla (apart from the freebies) because I have alternatives, but yeah, you have to respect their pricing and policy. It's all just silly now, once the internet gave access to Black Friday to the world.

And just to reiterate, I think Jura is a great plugin and everyone should have a copy inside their MPC. It's definitely worth more than $34, Akai are underselling themselves there, but I do not believe it is a $149 plugin, and clearly neither do Akai, otherwise they wouldn't sell (direct or indirectly) at significantly less for 80% of the year.

Ultimately if you want to play the game and get Akai plugins at their cheapest, wait until 'up to the 77% sales' where the $149 plugins return to their normal price of $34, then either wait even longer to see if a 15% promo code is announced or you can likely use MPCSAVE10 all year round on most things. Also audiodeluxe typically has a 10% off code and you also earn loyalty points = money off next purchase.

The competition are Softtube, Arturia, Roland, and Tal. For the MPC User I given the choice it's the one that goes in the MPC. But for VST only user the supposed retail price I'd get the soft-tube. But the Tal is also meant to be really good and established, and a better price.

I do like that they added an extra envelope, being able to replicate the original, and offer something different could have been more of a focus. The pre filter drive (which I love on the bass station 2) is just plain disappointing, on some sounds you can't even detect it.

I agree though, I think it's a must have, If they had set it at $60 and never shifted for sales, and had a smaller discount during sales, then I think some wouldn't even wait for sales.

And then to release a SH-101 clone whish is a lesser synthesiser in the real world, how is it the same $149!

I bought these Ether and Sprite @$29usd each, I am really happy with them.
They are worth the money imo.

From the outside, Ether and Sprite look to me like cute integrations of effects already present individually in existing AIR effects. I guess the integration is nice and the built-in macros that drive several parameters simultaneously are unique... Is there something in them beyond that ?

may go for the sprite for now since I have the reverb pro
