Sold MPC Live 2 - got Force - Delete MPC Desktop AppTotal n?

Total noob here to MPC's & Force - but studied for months to determine which would work best for me. First bought the MPC Live II, then realized for what I'm doing (composing, & creating a 'backup band' for my keyboard playing & singing) that the Force was going to much better meet my needs.

Last week I returned the Live II after just a couple months, bought the Force & am sure this is the right device for me. Although I know I have some huge mountains to climb, I'm very excited about the journey ahead!

Right now I have just ONE main question: Should I just completely delete the MPC desktop software that is still installed on my laptop? Did not realize until today that the Force does not use it. (Thankfully I had no projects to worry about transferring - only bought one Expansion pack, I'll worry about installing later.)

Looking forward to becoming an active member on the Force board here. Took me a while to get other elements in place, like the Tascam Model 12 to use the Force dawless for now, with an SSD installed, updated to the new 3.2 firmware, and got sound out to my monitors Finally ready to get started... Well in theory you should first 'unregister' it from your inMusic account because it's part of the MPC Live 2 purchase. If someone buys the Live 'open box' from the retailer you returned it to, they'll 'potentially' have issues activating the software as it's likely still registered to you. You'll need to contact support to unregister as they don't provide any way to do this in your account (hence I can see why people wouldn't bother).

But that said, I 'unregistered' my MPC Renaissance with Akai support when I sold it, and it's still there listed in my account along with all the included plugins, expansions and activation codes that came with it (but my buyer never had any issues from his end).

But really, the MPC Software isn't much use if you have a Force - if you just need to export expansions you can do that with the free MPC Beats app, along with most other Force-useful things, such as building keygroups and kits, autosampling etc.

I'm now thinking for the time being I better hang onto the full MPC software, as was mentioned, if just to transfer MPC Expansions to my Force. I did tear my hair out last night without using MPC software trying (unsuccessfully) to get my one $40 Neo Sunset expansion moved to the Force. The only method that seems to work properly - per YT vids and forum posts - is using MPC 2.0, although some said MPC Beats would also work.

Doing more research I realized MPC 2.0 is a very powerful DAW in its own right, and as I figure out my workflow, I might find other uses for it in the future. It's good to know I won't be messing up whoever might inherit my barely touched gold MPC Live II that I lost $600 on returning 3 months after purchase to Guitar Center. But instant karma struck because the only Force they had in stock was a pristine but open box one for just $799 - instead of the current $1299 price!

For a while I've been committed to an Ipad based music workflow, accumulating many cool music apps, working a bit with Cubasis, and most recently loving the multi-platform Roland Zenbeats DAW software. I have some vision issues that make me recoil from most desktop daws with tiny type and controls, lol. But I recently bought a used Macbook Pro, and figure I might end up at least finishing up my productions with a desktop DAW, possibly Zenbeats or Ableton Live, and or maybe the MPC software will play a role.

As if trying to tackle all this Akai stuff was not enough of a challenge for me, a few months ago I switched from a simple midi controller keyboard to the new Kurzweil K2700 synthesizer workstation. I absolutely love it, but it's a pretty overwhelming beast! It also mostly eliminates me needing any desktop VST's.

Ultimately my point was that you returned the Live, so your license for the MPC Software is now invalid, you shouldn't really be using it anymore. The new buyer of the Live could have activation problems, in theory they should do as it's already registered with you.

Anyway, it's your call. As I said, MPC Beats does everything you say you need the MPC Software for (i.e. export expansions).

Does the Expansion Builder app come with the free MPC Beats app? If not, that would absolutely be a reason to keep the MPC Software around.
