I was in the same boat. I wanted to buy the Force but I'm waiting to see if they add Song Mode to the next update. Until then, Akai won't get my money.

If you're just guna import complete songs and large audio clips then yeh you'll soon run out of ram.
I use it for external midi synths and triggering audio thru either an audio track playing clips of loops or using kits.

Its not a laptop or pc, it's not streaming audio from the drive and you don't have that luxury but that's not the point of it.

Yes, it has flaws at the moment but the work flow and ease of use isn't available on anything else.

I originally had an esx2 with 24mb and could do a 1 hr set but you have to be clever.

Other units I looked at was mpc 1000(had one, too much menu diving)
Octatrak, looks the same and too expensive.
Mpc one and live, these are basically the same as the force but what drew me to it was the clip launch feature like ableton.
For live performance this is awesome, either jumping to different scenes or adding clips from one scene whilst playing another.
No other unit does that.

Im sure these issues and flaws will be sorted in updates.

I’m currently using it as if song mode will never happen. I can import to Ableton which has become my main DAW. I have the beta version with the arranger but something is not adding up in regards to this mode being officially released. That’s ok with me but I seriously doubt that the arranger will ever be officially released to all users.

I am pondering to buy a force too, not in the least way, to use it with external MIDI synths.

Do you have experience in which notes get send in Melodic Note Mode, types Chords and Progressions? Does the Force signal the whole arrangement of notes or just the one corresponding with the pad touched?

Thnx for answering!
