Akai Force Forum: Everything relating to the Akai Force, the new 64 pad, clip-based standalone sampler/groovebox from Akai. While not an MPC, it shares many similar software features to the MPC X/MPC Live including the same underlying code-base.

I’m wondering why not all usb audio devices are supported.
For example, the SE-02 works great but not the Access Virus TI.
Both of these synths function as sound cards when plugged into a pc so both should be recognized on the Force?

Turns out that there are a couple of prerequisites.

The first is that it has to be class compliant; no special drivers or anything like that.

The second is that it has to go to the right audio settings. I forget what those are, but they're pretty standard in terms of buffer, bitrate and depth.

Personal recommendation: the Behringer U-phoria UMC1820, and put it on its own direct USB connection (no hub in the way). No muss, no fuss, very good transparent sound.

Virus TI predates the notion of class-compliant USB. Something cool though is that the Virus TI will show up as a MIDI keyboard if you connect it directly to Force or MPC.

There are very, very few audio interfaces that work with the MPC/Force over USB. UMC1820 as somebody mentioned is one, Tascam Model series is another. Beyond that, YMMV.
