Auto-record and auto dub ... how to turn this off?

This has been very frustrating.

In my scenes, I'll have an empty track in a columnn .. when I trigger that row, the akai will start recording into an empty track. Or it'll start over dubbing on one that already is filled.

I do not want this AT ALL.

And the other issue is that the tracks all seem to stutter when starting, like there is some kind of count-in. I have to stop and restart the scene a few times before it works properly.

I've changed the settings in metronome (shift 5), and its all turned off ... no countdown ... no overdub ...

but these things keep happening. It's irritating and it's destroying work. I've looked for a solution to this for the past two hours and can only find others who have this same issue, but no solutions.

So if you have a solution, would you mind sharing it ?

I would have mess would mess with Force to figure it, but are those empty tracks Rec Armed?

Also if you go to record settings or in the Preferences (I forgot which) turn off Record by tapping a clips or something like that. Check the manual for that section. I see if I can figure it out later, but it's something simple once you know what & where it is.

Pretty sure nothing is armed to record, and thats what is puzzling me. I'm not wanting to record, so not arming the tracks to record or using the record button in anyway ... and it does it. Shift-Rec brings up settings, and it all seems to be in order. Very perplexing.

Can you load a project that wasn't do this & check what setting are different?

I had this problem and it was something really stupid but can’t remember. But there is a fix. If I remember I’ll let you know.

I told him the same thing in my first post. This problem is like a right's of passage for Force users.

Figured it out. And it was something dumb.

The scenes I would save were saved with recording armed ... that setting gets saved in the project file!

So what would happen when loading a project and trying to just play, it thought it was supposed to still be recording and the tracks would arm.

Imagine my delight at discovering that saving projects with 'rec arm' OFF would save that state. So when loading projects to play, they no longer attempt to record.

The Akai Force was just doing what it was told.

Thanks for the update. I didn't know it saved the arm state.

FYI, you can hold Delete & press mute, solo, or arm & a pop up will let you turn them off for all track by pressing OK. You can even set the OK as an macro using MIDI-Learn for all 3 choices.
