Force speed in 2026

I’ve been frustrated with the removal and reintroduction of clip launching on my MPC Live. I’ve also noticed my MPC is very slow to edit and generally do anything since updating to 3.0. Loading Hype freezes the machine for ten seconds roughly and if I start editing parameters it initially needs a moment before it catches.

I don’t suspect adding the Pro Pack will quicken up my 8 year old sampler. Is the Force showing how old it is generally? I don’t expect things to be as quick as launch but I’m curious how the average user experience looks currently.

I only experience some delay with flavor pro and that not necessarily a system freeze but it takes a few seconds to open the editing screen the first time I tap it.

I’ll have to say I almost never use the build in synths though.

I’m eyeing that new XL and live 3 but tbh for what I do I don’t need to update and I’m still hoping they will release a force 2. It’s the best stand alone sampler/sequencer I’ve used and I’ve used a lot. Roland’s, Elektrons, MPCs, they just don’t give me the same functionality and DAW like experience the Force gives me.

The Force continues to run just fine in terms of speed. The only time I've seen it choke down is when I have it loaded with plugins and effects and I'm generally teasing the upper end of its capacity - which was always possible.

When using it as a studio master, driving MIDI for other things, it runs like a champ, even when I'm returning some audio to it for effects.

The Force is still fast & still the best designed unit to use 3.0/the clip-matrix. You may need to clean out your internal drive & or check the health of the drive.

not really used my Force recently, but 'gen 1' MPCs are definitely sluggish in places, boot up takes forever, plugin presents can take a (relative) while to load etc. Night and day when you switch the a gen2. But it does sound like you might need to perform some TLC, Hype should not be hanging your unit like that.

I’ll probably pick up the Force since it’s a lot cheaper than the new MPC.

The Force was for 3.0, so maybe that's why it's faster in moving around, but, you can upgrade it to 4GB of RAM if you got the skills or willing to send it this guy:

MPC users are all excited about the 16 step seq, but the they seem to not know that the Force pads can be used as a 16/32/64 step sequencer.

I think more of them will start to pick up used Forces' once they get deeper in to the matrix & want a more direct access to the clips - the Force not only has the 8x8 layout, it can copy/delete clips via the pads themselves.

On the MPCs you have to use the slow ass clip menu via the t-srceen. I do like the touchstrip, but, I wouldn't want to give up the crossfader for it. Both would be best.

Getting a used Force isn't a bad move, it just got a new os update with a bunch of bug fixes & I think once the MPC desktop gets out of beta it will have to accommodate the matrix & this should let the Force become compatible with it, because at that point, why the hell not? Especially when it has a built-in 8x8 pad interface & running the same OS as the MPCs.
