Auto-tune. I have an idea I need some input please.

Yeah, before the hate starts this is NOT for vocals. I need to know if I can use the program for this:

Some d1CK is going to steal this idea but whatever.

I know a piano teacher and she's given me permisison to record some students lessons- provided they are cool with it. They aren't the greatest or even half good but thats exaclty what I want.

I want to take chords and such as played by the students and run them through Autotune to fix the notes. Since the program adds specific effects to voices I thought it would be cool to run instruments through it. I'm thinking it would produce some cool sounds.

If you can't beat em, steal their sh1t and make it your own right? lol

Can I do this? I don't have autotune but I know somebody who does so I have access.

Ran some synths thru autotune a while back. The results where ok. I dont see why it wouldnt work to correct off key piano playing

wouldnt melodyne be more suitable for this ?

I've never used it, but doesn't autotune only work on monophonic sounds?

Melodyne DNA can separate individual notes in a polyphonic recording and adjust them, so you'd need that to fix chords

might sound cool if you even switch notes in the middle of a key...

I just thought the way Autotune modulated voices to make it in tune would be a cool effect for samples.

Like when you chop a sample and de-tune it to fit your project, you could use this to re-tune it without changing the speed of the sample (in theory at least). Or without using Timestretch
