Hi,

i created 2 nice beats and now im trying to find the right bassline.
Should it be a sampled Bass or should I take my blofeld for this?
The other thing I can I make it even to the beat, never learned an instrument, so its
kind of hard to play one on the keyboard for me. For me it always sounds my bass doesnt fit to the beat, soundwise.
Do you have some tips to learn creating basslines?

thnx guys

Easiest way for you probably would be to form a bass line in your head, find a sample that closely resembles it, pitch it, stretch/compress or do whatever until it sounds good and works for you.

i'd say there is... very true practice makes perfect, but...

take a couple piano lessons. or at least get to the stage where you can understand what scale/key you are working in on said sample/beat, then i guarantee you will improve infinitely!

id say anything goes.........that is, sometimes a keyboard bass works, sometimes an autocromatic bass one shot in mpc works, sometimes a live bass works, sometimes lowpass filter on a loop works, or a low pass filter on a bass loop chopped up, or 16 levels on some bassy piano stabby thingy works, sometimes just a strong bass hit or low 808 layered under normal kick works...........point is, it dont matter, ass long as it sounds good.

i also use to think that my basslines had to be more complex than i made em, but really even one note basslines can sound perfect if they fit the groove - look at wutang shit, or even 9th wonder........some of thier basslines are pretty plain if you ask me, but beats sound ill. or for example black robs whoa beat, there aint no bassline, its bass hit, and its the illest beat ever - there plenty of beats like that.

the lesson is, dont overthink shit. if it sounds ill with 1 note, go for it. if you cant figure out a bassline, be creative, scour the sample for bass notes you can filter............and if you rockin keyboard bass, keep it simple. and always always get that shit grooving with the drums.
