Bro.... ghost notes are just notes that aren't louder than the others.

I'm wondering how they are created? Like do you just do the same hi-hat sound or snare sound but at a practically silent volume?

Yes and no, if i use the same snare as the main snare then i usually also adjust the adsr to make it shorter and softer.. and sometimes filter it to make it lighter, might also pitch it up a tiny bit.. You can also use this method to turn it into a hihat/cabasa type of sound that should go well in a combination with the ghost snare if you do rolls and shuffles.. Of course, alot depends on the actual pattern tho..

right on the button lol try using 16 levels on velocity to get a varied snare/drum or whatever and use the highest along with a much lower velocity for the ghosts..

id rather record a break with ghosts in it cuz otherwise true velocity isnt accompished only simulated its just not realistic it sounds like the same loud drum really quiet cuz a real snare has different characteristics when struck at diffenrent velocities i.e the reverb/tail and so on....
