Experiences of Akai MPK pads

Can anyone comment on the pads on the MPK range, esp the MPK61? I'm used to the MPC 1000 with JJOS (and also the M-Audio Axiom 25 pads [much better imo])- are they more or less sensitive than the MPC?

It would be for using with Reason v3/Ableton. M-Audio seems to automap to reason v3, do the MPKs integrate well also?

MPK-61 looks like a good way to get 16 pads, decent faders and note repeat/arpeg. Reviews are rare but I heard MPK pad were a bit lame?

Less sensitive than the MPC.

I had the MPK49 and used it within Reason.
The Keys, Faders, Potis are all fine..

I did NOT like the Pads. They were hard as hell. At this time i never used MPC Pads. I thought... oh sh!t.. thats the great Akai Pad feeling everybody is talking about.

Now I own a 2000 XL. Those Pads are much nicer. Softer, better to play. velocity is more on point.

just out of curiousity - what's the difference between the 2000xl and a 1000 with JJOS for sensitivity? Answers in p.s.i

The majority of the released mpc1000's have pad problems. They are very hard, reasonable sensitivity and responsivness. A later released serie of mpc1000's have the same type of pads like the early mpc models. Akai also has released these type of sensors and pads for the mpc1000 as an upgrade kit. Those pads (factory installed and upgrade kit) have a small gap between the pads and the sensors. So the responsivness and the sensitivity are not that good unless u fix it. Even JJOS has added a few settings to improve it, still the 2000(xl)'s sensitivity is better.
