My drums sound wack. What could be the problem?

yeah its definetly lacking low end. i mean it could sound dope with certain sounds along with it, but if your looking for it to sound different, add some low end.

Ok,my last post in this topic: Can i raise low end with EQing? should i just some parts of the EQ down?

And what do u mean by addig certain sounds? U mean sampled melodies,or other drum sounds?

20 to 80 on your eq is your low end

Dive into the 'basic' techniques. Read about them, apply them, practice and master them.

Layering, Filtering, Equalizing, compression, and recording/sampling

And of course it starts with the right sample source

leanr to chop then use layering also record into mono you get better sound quality way thinker then stereo samples

I recommend that you learn to use the EQ. Learn what the knobs are for and how to use it.

The video should just help you understand what the knobs are for and understanding the terms. although there are some "do s and dont" feel free to experiment and find a way to shape the sound. And listen carfully to the sound

but seriously,

all you need is some super heavy low end, like strictly bass, put it to it's own pad and turn it in to a smaller shorter sound like a kick drum, add your wack drum to another pad and mess around with a little low pass as well. add another sound to another pad like maybe a small percussion instrument. now just mix (by ear) those three sounds together to your liking. mess around with their pitches. make all 3 sounds compliment each other. if you can narrow down something thats wack to your ears, then get rid of it. keep moving forward.

so grab a low end sound, yer wack drums, and some other wack sounds. then make them sound really good together. it's not rocket science. the less time you spend on this stuff the better, i'm sure

as crazy as you make it sound, i send a kid on youtube no older than 14 with a 2000xl sample some banging ass drums from a live rock show and chopped em up and layed em down and I swear, the drums sounded as mean on mpc and it did in the video. so i dont know, maybe it's techniques that matter how the drums come out.

Honestly man Im a n00b to production and the MPC. I have had my MPC since about the later part of 09 and once I got back from iraq I was able to play with it, it's been about 4 months since I been messing with it but here's my advice.

* Steal drums, kicks, snares, from tracks you feel have some hard hitting instruments. MF Doom and Kanye west both admitted to stealing drums off records they felt were banging.
MF Doom = Stole Kool G Rap Drums (well actually they wouldve been dj polo's but you get me
Kayne = admitted to stealing drums off of recently released records.
So dont feel bad bout stealing other producers drums because 9 times out of 10, they did the same thing.

* another way to chop up drums, is to chop em like you do a sample or loop. I use logic 9 or Soundbooth, load the sample with the drums and chop it 1 kick, snare, drum at a time till I get the most of out it. I was able to do this with a freddy track from wu-tang meets indie and it worked out perfect.

I myself like layering sample kicks from breaks and topping them with a random kick from those downloaded kits.
Then in PT once my drums are tracked into it I do some EQ etc

Works great for me.
