Try it with just reason first. Meaning make sure ALL other daws are shut down then try reason and see if it let's you select it

thats exactly all i want to do, so thats what ive been doing, i dont want to use it with anything as of yet, and yes it lets me select it, but then it loads for a bit and then a red X pops up next to it

Manny, I guess you have the newest PT version 8.04 installed, right?
The new drivers are conflicting with other hosts than PT on many systems (also on the Windows side). That's why you can't choose the driver in Reason. Try rolling back to 8.03 cs2 or 8.01 cs3. (full PT and drivers deinstall, clearing of PT preferences and databases, then full installer for 8.03, reboot, opening up and closing PT once, PT 8.03 cs2 update.)
