How many tracks does it take you to make a tune?

I usually have anywhere from 8-16 tracks of just music, then I'll track it into pro-tools, mix it, bounce it down to a stereo track then track vocals. Vocals can take up a lot of tracks, depanding on the song. But the most I've used before was 32, and it was an F'ing nightmare. It doesn't always have to be a symphony. Simplicity can sound just as good or even sometimes better than a plethora of tracks.

Dora the explorer songs have 20 tracks?

6 tracks is enough for me.

1- vocals
2- drums
3- samples
4- Bass
5- chorus/hook
6- crazy sounds to fill out the sound

I like stacking tracks too. Meaning I'll use a particular type of instrument like horns, ie: brass & woodwinds.

So I'll take these and use quite a few midi channels dedicated to filling in those instruments.

around 10 for beat around plus 10 after vocals

about 20 tracks i think works good for me..
