like in this song...the high pitched vocal sounds like a chipmunk (around 0:39)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkhCdu9AkgM&feature=related

now i know people pitch the voice up and it gives it that chipmunk sound, but when i try to timestretch it to match my track, it throws it off and it gives it a "slurry" sound

the only i can fix the "slurry" sound is to pitch it down lower, but then it just doesnt sound right in the track

yea software works, i usually dont use effects much on my MPC. you can pitch shift and timestretch the sample to get it how you want it in either Soundforge (thats what I use) or use the free program Audacity which has change pitch, speed and tempo to help you get that effect
