On an mpc or any machine, when you do drum rolls in 1/32 notes, and 1/16, lets say with an 808 snare, do u like to change the pitch of the snare to match the beat? Do you tune/pitch all your drums differently, like what do some people here do? including Kick snare, hats, etc? Anyone here using a Fantom G in their set up? Let's talk beats.

i dont tune them to the key of my beat cause i never know what it is. but i do pitch snares up and down for rolls sometimes.

i have tried to tune kicks and snares to the beat and i usually just do it till it sounds right.

what he said :)

i just made a practice beat that had a 808 snare roll. the snares that were in the roll had their pitches changed. but i just play the roll in which ever way it sounds right to match the beat.

i've found that usually when doing rolls, the very first snare should be just a little bit higher in pitch/tune then the beat itself then it lowers down in pitch/turn with each roll or 2 (or however many rolls you have)
