Studio Punchin's

I heard about studio punchins in a magazine recently but I'd never actually done it.

They seem better because you can start new lines/verses easier and certain words that would tangle the tounge are easier to lay down on tracks if you split the recording. Vocals come out a lot punchier.

I spat a couple of bars today, first attempt at doing the punchins so looking for any tips producers may have developed.

Are you using the MPC to do your punchin, or some software like Live or Record?

artist punch in yes.. it sucks i hate having to punch a guy in because he wont practice before he shows up to spend 50$ an hour recording a track. or even better. " can you play this , its the file:.. " no problem yo , what up?" " ooh , i need to write the hook before we start"... im like wtf? seriously? then i gotta punch the dude in because he don't want to rehearse before he shows up. if you tell em to go again , they think your trying to rip them off for time because they are " the best in the city".... its a lazy mans tool. practice untill you can play it in the dark or sing it blind folded in the booth.. thats trying to be the best you can.. One..

Punch-ins never sound 100% completely natural to me. I can always tell when the rapper punched in.
