slow down. Youve been on here a few days and youve got A LOT of threads started with some pretty basic questions. People will be much more inclined to help you if it seems like youve done some preliminary research on your topics. what is your mixer budget? do you allready have eq and compressors? do you know how the 8outs work? you have protools allready, some of these answers should maybe be apparent to you allready?
short answer, and not the only 'right' answer;
each of your 8outs can send a different sound (or multiple), use that to seperatley eq/level your snare from your kick etc. use the sends on your mixer to send the signal from different channels (in varying degrees) to your outboard. then the way you return the signal will depend on your mixer choice. either through the dedicated returns of your mixer or route your outboard fx/comp/eq into a new channel where you can mix the wet with the dry channels..
if youre doing hte eq,fx etc outside the protools rig then whatever you send in will be recorded... i guess, im completley OTB so im def no PT expert..
