 Of course, I had this experience in the 90s with a CD player connected to broken RCA inputs on my amp. In that case it was Zapp - More bounce (you should listen to this song with the phase cancellation on. really nice!). This opened a brand new way of listening INTO the music for me. I modified my headphones with a switch so I could turn the cancellation on and off. Helped me in "understanding" music more and more. But now you can get this with any audioeditor and dont need "hardwarebased" center-cancellation.

The problem here is IMO a wrong connection of the mini cables like pound said or broken cables (should check the groundcables of left and right) or a broken solderpoint (signal path grounding) on the PCB (indide the tonearm base)

I have heard from friends and on other forums that people have had trouble with Ortofon's not making good connection in the tone arms. I've had zero problems and never used any sprays.
I've been through 4 sets of Ortofon stylus' but still use the same 2 Nightclub headshells since '97.

To moisten the headshell contacts to have better conductivity to the tone arm contacts. :?

I use the Ortofon too (15years now) and never had contact problems. Just because spit is liquid, doesn't mean it clean things like water. It works for a moment cause spit conduct electricity but what is on the contacts when all the liquid of the spit is gone?? paticles of burgers, steak, eggs whatever you ate.
