recording Movie / Film samples

There's a program called "Freecorder" it's safe and works very well... anything playing through your computer you can record and save as a .wav... Youtube videos, dvd's, whatever... it's very nice and easy.

but i think audacity would do the same job

I actually have Audacity, but i never knew it could do those things..
Maybe i should dig deeper into it.
All I ever used it for is making pre recordings of lyrics or converting stuff from wav. to mp3 so I can allways lsten to it when I'm on the go.
Once I tried mastering a track with it, but it's a pain in the ass to work with..

I also have an LE of the new Wavelab, that came free with a magazine, but my PC is **** ancient and too slow to work that programm
I guess I'm gonna have to upgrade sometime. but Computers are **** expensive.

if you use pro tools you can do the same as importing audio but select the video file. (It will only import the audio file).

I sample directly from my PC into my MPC2500 and/or my Casio FZ-1.

I had some trouble doing this recently... my sound card for my Windows 7 PC doesn't have an option to record its overall play back. What I had to do is use Audition to extract the audio from the downloaded movie file.

You could always just run your sound card out into your MP too, but it would take a little studio rewiring.

I like the idea of running a VCR into an amp or mixer then into your MP.

This is just about why I asked the question.
See I'd be doin it the analog way (like I said in the first post). Now a friend of mine, who watches a lot more movies than I do (I'd usually be makin music ), wants to record some movie samples. He's not as "oldschool" as I am, meaning: he watches 'em on his PC, he doesn't own a VCR (I do ).
Anyway one day We were talkin about sampling from movies. I told him how I'd do it. He wanted to find a way to do it with software, on his PC... hence the "better" sound quality... so he said " I'll find out how to do it man, it might take a while, but I'll find out.."
Sure i said...
THen I posted the question here.. Now I got LOADs of ways to do it

i like to sample soundtracks from records (some st album got voices and fx from the movie) i got a vcr and a dvd player, but the sound of a good record is better...
speaking of soundtracks i think that Flash Gordon by Queen is one of the best records ever to find samples, vocals and stuff in general,
many good synths and electronic noises
the voice of Max Von Sydow is great
was one of the first records i copped in the 80s
now i got 2 copies of the record:
italian pressing and US pressing

Yeah OSTs on Vynil are the shit!!! I've got the jungle book OST on Vynil...
