What kind of effect?

Hello Board. My first post, wahey. I'm tryin to get a kinda ghostly effect (spectral not international). Sort of weird phasing a bit like the little girl in the film Poltergiest calling for her mommy. Or, if anyone knows it, "Feel Flows" by The Beach Boys uses it subtly.
Hmmmm how to put in words?? Any ideas what I'm getting at?

I think you're talking about a reverse reverb effect.

Reverse your vocal sample so that it's backwards.

Put some reverb on it, and create a new file of the vocal with the verb on it.

Then take that effected file and turn it backwards again.

That way the vocals are "forward/normal", but you hear the reverb BEFORE you hear the actual vocal.

Get it?

You'll need to do this on sound editing software - not on the MPC.

Use a True verb plug waves has this kind of plug you put it to your
vocs and you good.

that's the effect i think you are talking about... quite a beauty when it's well done. I know of people who just record the reversed reverb signal on another bus and then just play with that wet signal with out the dry signal....

You can work the pitch of the "backward reverb" channel as well.

Reverse Reverb is def. that sound.
an if you use the effect pre fader it might sound cool too.

damn, I was just reading about this today- the author calls it preverb. Are you talking about the effect that ozzy osbourne uses? if so, thats it. take a sample, reverse it, add reverb, flip it back, done. In the book, the author did say that preverb is commonly used in horror movies so... One
