Replaying loops

Since the new sampling law came out I've been takeing loops then builing the same exact tune over them (chords) then removing the loop. Anyone else do this? it's a **** pain in the ass getting it to sound just like to original but in a different style.

I couldn't give a flying fck about that law! Even if I ever get to press some wax or cd's or whatever, I'm going to do that independently and make presses small enough that no publishers are going to take the time to f*ck with me and my little hustle.

I am going to continue looping up whatever I want however I want, recognisable or not, regardless of any laws.

That's right.Untill you land that major deal don't even sweat it.Although that is a cool way to come up with your "own" melodies and whatnot.

chrono i've done tha before. its actually pretty tight. especially if it involves the piano. but to build up a melody around a sample and remove the loop it sometimes sounds really tight

i agree with cheech and the others. i still do my thang, but sometimes i try something different. in those cases, take that sample out and finish the track without it

like that song (forgot what it was called) when they be like "a party and a party till its ran all thru and leave it to my crew we gon be playa proof.." well they got that melody from an old song. but i dont think they actually took a sample from the original, but played the melody just like the original and added their own flavor.

I figure **** the laws.....and if it gets big enough to where people notice..hopefully ill make enough to pay for the rights.....

This is called an "interpolation" and if I'm not mistaken is still subject to copyright issues but seeing as how most of us are still tryin' to get on I say **** all them laws.

yeah you cant get one over on the greedy old heads. the only legal difference with what you are doing is they cant flat out refuse to let you interpolate like they can with a sample. you still have to pay them.

but like they say, when the man tries to take the power, the people need to take it right back. more and more i think the right thing to do is be blatantly illegal (and the more your beats are unarguably creative and original despite "biting" a sample the better for our cause) and there are people (electronic frontier foundation, illegal-art.org, waxy.org and etc...) that will defend you.

same with breaks. play your sounds over them then remove the original loop. they cant sue you if you have no money..

This has been bothering me for the longest... I mean I never hurt anyone, I don't cause trouble, I'm the most laidback guy around.. So what if I want to smoke a spliff after a long and hard working day?

I've once been caught with a small amount of hash, about 0.5 grams. There were three policemen that "caught" me and took me to the station, asked me a bunch of useless questions and it took them almost two hours just to get through my case - and this is not including the paperwork and all that ish. All that time and money wasted because of one joint's worth of hash!!

The funniest thing is that I had spent the whole day participating in a red cross program called hunger day, raising money for poor people and helping to make the world a better place!
