keyboard ...keyboard...keyboard

check it out, i got this yamaha djx keyboard it's the first one that came out
it has all these factory sounds, it has midi in and out . it's just to big for my apartment.

can you guys give me some ideas on what is a good midi controller to work the mpc, does number of keys matter, i would like some thing with some filters and arpegio does'nt need to have sounds programed in it cuz i do lots of sampling .

thing is i'm going to trade in my djx for a new board, this djx i've had it a few years still in the box, i've only used it four or five times it just i have no space to keep it hooked up all the time,
what do you guys think of a, oxgen8 or somthing along those lines.

just looking for a goood keyboard thats small and compact but will get the job done right. knowatimean.

dont get a midi tech...despite having 10 dedicated knobs as well as keys the resolution is crap and it doesn't save the cc numbers....dunno what the rest of the midiman stuff is like...

roland controllers are very nice, very expensive but very nice...

dubmonkey or anyone does it matter how many keys are on the keyboard for ex:(41 keys -61 keys) i just want a small keyboard to make basslines and tweak sounds with[/u]

250??? nah son i can get the newer one cheaper, and jd where in new britain are you from?? how much u want for the dj x??? if your in nb maybe i can pick it up or something

can you use just a midi controller to tweak sounds in ways the equipment its attached to cannot? it seems like it would just trigger stuff and the modulation wheel for instance would send mesages the mpc wouldnt see or use . . .

ive been thinking about how my [eventual] midi setup is gonna run and it seems like the stuff youd want is something that can run more kinds of filters and/or effects before you'd want a different method of controlling. like a simple sampling keyboard or another more standard sampler...but then once you had one of those you might want to use a keyboard controller . . .i dunno just thinking out loud here . . .

i'dunnoa bout all that , with the djx i'am able to tweak and record tweaks live on to my recorder. i just want a small keyboaed to controll the mpc while doing live practice sets.

now I'm not in NB that's where I was BORN at close to osgood park I will be up there in nov

u wont get much controll out of a standard midi keyboard to your mpc. note on off velocity. you can make the pitch bend or mod wheel controll the nv slider. i use mine for writing midi track for external gear. everything is from the pads.
