What compression settings for bass?

i can tell u my favorite compressor for bass. it's the urei 1176.

depending on the track, its either that or the LA2A, sometimes both

i used the la 2a on bass for a track 3 mixes ago and it did work better than the 1176. i know a lot of cats prefer the la 2a for bass, but most of the time the 1176 gives me the balls. i love the la 2a on male vocals. it's really smooth.

i like to track bass with the LA2A, then during the mix its 1176. bass is one of those instruments you usually end up doing weird things to, to make it sound good in the mix. couple compressors, expander, distortion, etc.

cause im doing a 2 bar loop right now, low end and i just got some odd notes rumbling my headphones and i just tried 12 and its not working. :oops:
