I never had the chance to hear this Numark TT and as mentioned before there are no rules but if you look at the producers back in the 90s ...... they didn't have "cheap" turntables. It was mostly the Technics 1210. You can choose out of many turntables and if you don't wanna scratchit doesnt have to be a DJ turntable but I would always recommend one with a "heavy" 12" platter and a standart SME connection for the cardridge/needle.
But with all this said remember to FIRST use good samples. If you watch pete rock in studio on youtube you'll see that he also sampled from CD. Vinyl has some benefits if you like raw samples but its not a must.
Another thing, cause it was mentioned here: Clipping. A soundcard won't give you good results. It will sound effed up as hell. Premier sampled at a high gain on his s950 and thats a different thing cause it causes (if done correct) a nice distorted sound.
