This is the word I have used to describe a "producing block" when I make beats. I took the day off work today, and this morning I have come up with 3 ideas which sound ok by themselves, but they need something else! I cant find anything to put over them, i've searched thru my entire bank trying to find something, and a lot of stuff will fit but nothing sounds like it should be there ya know? DAMNN This sh*t pissses me offf!! What do y'all do?

maybe they sound good as is.

Ive been in the same situation as you and added a bunch of noises to an already great but simple beat. Try to some variety in the different pitch for different loops.

ie. 1-4 bars 0.00 ,5-8 +1.00,9- 12 +2.00 and etc...

or just save that beat and move on. then maybe when you forgot about it, open it up and slam on those pads. Sometimes I become too familiar/tight and can't get a different perspective.

OR

you could always smoke a large joint :)
