Getting rid of the choppy sound

I have a 4 bar loop that I've chopped in 1/2 bar chops and I'm trying to play them together but they're not perfectly even chops so is there any mode where I can move these chops so they fit nicely together? I'm playing with MPC 1000 JJ OS2.

Well the two ways that I can think of, that you can approach this is
you can either pitch down the sample or use the time stretching feature on the mpc, to lower the BPM.

Their might be other ways but those two methods might help.

Other ways to cover up the choppy-ness is laying down a very light melody under it, or even adding a nice thick bass line.

Isn't there a mode where you can move your drums after you have layed them down so could it work with my chops too?

Should be a Step Edit feature to do that.

Ok now I'm loosing my mind.. I have tried everything but the bars end too soon/too late and I just cant get it fit. I have tried it with quantize on and off, with different tempos but still something is wrong.. these chops are sent from hell

dont blame the sampler, you're not doing something right. Do you have a drum pattern already laid down? If not, lay a dummy track down and see how the sample lines up then. Its possible that your sample is not temp matched to the BPM's in the MPC. Also, when sampling, always keep in mind that the sample may have variations in tempo forcing some parts to fit and others to be completely off, in that case, time stretch, chop smaller etc...

I'm doing the step editing right at this moment, seems like it works perfectly, just how I wanted. Now I only have to make it fit inside the bars and make a hook for the song.. Patience is the word.
