Burial gets owned by a female

Had to start this, as this women is amazing. I did post something in the Burial thread about her but she deserves one of her own.

Her name is Emika. Some of you may have heard of her. But if you like Burial you will like her. She's already blowing up and getting a lot of attention for her crazy style, which to me sounds influenced by Burial.

There was an interview in a music magazine this month about how she uses logic. She claimed she uses nothing but logic and logic's VST. She has a degree in Audio Engineering too.

Decidedly average to my ears I'm afraid. Sonically not that interesting, and I don't think her voice is that special. Crazy style? Not even close. There's plenty of other female artists out there pushing a more unique sound.

Also one of my pet hates is when people say how little they use like it's some sort of badge of honour... "Just" Logic? It's one of the most complete recording packages ever made. Try doing what Shadow did on the 60, what Source Direct did on an S3000, or what Photek did using two E-MUs and then come back with just Logic.

No real hate intended James, but I can't really see what the fuss is about.

Meh, must be just me then :p I really dig her. But, more interestingly what other music is similar to this would be interested to hear?

If she inspires you that's all that matters dude. What do you want female artists? Or Logic users?

both groups are from Bristol, England

and i also agree about Bjork. she has her own unique style and voice and works with lots of talented producers, plus she isn't afraid to experiment and embrace both old gear and new technology. i read somewhere a long time ago that she recorded some demo vocals into her mac laptop mic that ended up making it onto some of her albums. raw talent always outshines any gear you could possibly have. bjork is a perfect example of that.

I agree with experimentation, I know plenty of producers that follow the sheep and never experiment.

I've always admired Bjork's work.

I'll grab them albums from iTunes. I heard a few of the album tracks in YT. I'm very impressed!
