old "Stereo" vinyls hard panning

what up..

i posted this trick..that on old so called "stereo records" the instruments are hard panned to a channel and the other stuff to another channel..

Now i have a problem i dont have a pan knob on my mixer. But if I go the the sample screen i can choose

stereo
mono L
mono R

if I choose mono R will it only sample the right "stereo" channel off the vinyl?

yep. to be safe, just plug it up R out put to R input tho.

cool...so the MPC samples only the channel you select in the sample screen (so stereo is both the channels)

I think you can also use the song "Space Oddity" of David Bowie. In the beginning of the song, his singing is panned to one side, and his spoken count down (during the singing) is panned to the other side.

Yo ! I was looking around the net and my record collection and its kinda weird, that "live in berlin record" was one of the most popular of the era and dropped in mono, hard panned stereo and "regular" mixed stereo over the span of like 5-10 years.
In short you may not have one that is panned as such, I have 3 copies, (dollar bin baybeee) one is mono, one is stereo and hard panned (I know cuz I yanked some vocals off of it for a song) and one I have I traditional stereo (i just recorded a little bit from each one into my comp and soundforged it) so I dunno.

I think that my copy of "Crimson and Clover" by tommy james and the shondell's is like that.
I also know that the copy I have of some old Jerry lee lewis records are like this. I need to go through and mark the vinyl in my collection that works as such. Hey, if you want me to hit you with a sound file you can run thru a cd player and test this with let me know. But, I did it last night and it worked fine for me (sampling one channel only).

Been looking for that record for years and can't find it anywhere. I was forced to download it. It's still panned hard tho'. I took the guitar from one channel and filtered the bass from the other channel. Classic record

word. Dude I'm mad fortunate to have no less then 15 (yes 15) dope record stores no more then 15 miles from my pad. (THE BAY BAYBEEEEE) so I found it pretty easy. It is a dope record.
