if sending MIDI to MPC and there is no simult pad, then two notes at the same time i guess is the answer. Only if the program is NOT set to mono, because if it is, the two pads wont play at the same.
If you didnt know already Astral signal the MPC can indeed play more than one mote at a time in the sequencer. Other wise it would be a pretty useless sequencer right. This is not the same as the voice polyphony of the actual sampler, which is the maximum amount of samples your MPC can play at once. They are two different things. MPC can play samples and midi notes as well to say a synthesizer for instance. for argument sakes the events are notes in the sequencer and they could be midi or drum events. MPC1000 with Akai sys will play 100 events at once
http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/chart.htmsee down the bottom it says events. Im pretty sure you will find that this is the maximum amount of events you can have at once. Your MPC wont have the voice polyphony to play a hundred samples at once but you could hook up a few synths and try. Events include other things like program changes and MIDI information as well. So these events, even though they are not actual MIDI notes like A sharp, are still counted as events. So Astral that is your long answer about the sequencer. So get into it and use it to play as many notes what ever way you want. thats what its for.
Hey Morebucks is your sequencer mono only. i would have thought you would just use two notes at the same time and so you can set them up the way you want. Poly on the drum program on the MPC of course and send two notes at once. no simult play needed.
